The police have to always assume the ppl they stop will have a gun. If gun ownership wasn’t a thing then that attitude wouldn’t exist.

People get so hung up on gun ownership. Its the wrong people owning guns and the availability of guns to just about anyone who is over 21 (in some states) that is the problem here. Criminals will always have access to guns regardless of the law. Anyway that's a whole other thread for debate

The problem is the militarisation of the police in hte US. They are trained, unsurpringly given the gun laws, to assume that everyone they encounter will probably be armed.
Their training also emphasises that lethal force is their first fallback option if the initial contact goes wrong. I heard a radio doc that was shocking. The average police training schedule contains a month of combat training and one lecture on de-escalation.
It is a recipe for disaster.
The one case that I remember was a guy (I can't remember his name) driving to work with his wife in the car and he was stopped by a traffic cops who knew he had a concealed carry license. When asked to produce his license he told the cop he was going to get it from glove box and the cop said Ok but as soon as he went to get it he was shot dead. His wife recorded it and the aftermath is so sad.
Of course his pistol was locked up at home.

this seems murder plain and simple with no need to invoke race. If the 5 cops had been white the media would have exploded but now they can’t address the obvious questions all normal readers pose about this case. Equality is all about celebration but also about calling out wrong uns irrespective of race. Five bad black men killed an innocent black man. Cue the liberal media having a brain fart over it
